  1. While I ALWAYS welcome releases concerning Petula, I feel this release was unneccessary, I mean PETULA rarely includes this period in her concerts and still is making GOOD music now, re- TO MEMPHIS.
What I wish someone in the music business would do would be to maybe take the dynamic 60s period of her songs, and do a CD that has them in the original form then coupled with a ‘NEW’ arrangement on each of the songs. For Instance, a version of HAPPY HEART, was on a Film SOUNDTRACK and was really worked on to an amazing result. DOWNTOWN has been mixed so many times but many other songs like SIGN OF THE TIMES and ROUND EVRY CORNER haven’t etc….. also, How nice it would be to get a complete ALBERT HALL live performance show on CD as well, with all the HITS included this time, IT IS shocking that PETULA’S showstopping live performances of I DONT KNOW HOW TO LOVE HIM have NEVER been released on a CD or even vinyl.Joseph.

  2. I agree with this comment. Petula has recorded so many amazing songs and it’s a real shame that her amazing back catalogue is constantly over looked. As we know there are (it feels like) a million compilations but it would be really great to have a compilation of her 80’s & 90’s material.

As for live material I would love her 1983 Albert Hall concert on DVD (I believe it was filmed for television but I could be wrong as I’m rather new to Petula’s career so not 100% sure of facts) as Petula live is something that needs to be seen. I think she is amazing on stage and having heard the Albert Hall show on CD I would love to actually watch it.

  3. Yes Steve she did have a live concert done for TV, an ANNIVERSARY concert it was. It was screened in 2 parts, she sang the Stevie wonder medley,Elton John medley, a brilliant song called OUT HERE ON MY OWN.
I totally agree it should be on DVD. I recall that concert well,it was full of great performances.Joseph

  4. Thank you Joseph. Lets hope that with the current availability of Petula DVD’s this show gets released too. It’s been great discovering her 60’s TV specials so maybe we’ll get her 70’s specials too – Steve.
